    NUMERICAL SIMULATION AND EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION  
    ON FROSTING CONDITION PERFORMANCE OF AIR SOURCE HEAT

    Abstract   The dynamic performances of an air source heat pump (ASHP) system under frosting conditions were
    simulated. A series of experiments were conducted to verify the present simulation model. The dynamic performance
    and cycle parameters of the ASHP system under frosting conditions, the frost thickness and the frost mass accumulation
    on the outdoor coils were analyzed and compared. The comparison between the experimental and simulated results
    indicates that the frost thickness on the surface of evaporator grows rapidly at the end of the frosting cycle. And the
    simulated frost thickness is agreement with the experimental data. The simulated results and cycle parameters of the
    dynamic performances are compared favorably with the experimental data at the second frosting stage. The numerical
    simulation is verified to be reasonable. With the rapid growth of the frost thickness at the end of the frosting cycle,
    numerical simulation of the ASHP results in a larger error which is because of the change of frosting shape which is not
    taken into account in the simulation model.
